A Beginner's Guide to Revolution Idle

From your first circle to your first prestige.

Welcome to Revolution Idle!

Revolution Idle is an incremental game about circles, multipliers, and watching numbers get bigger. It might seem confusing at first, but this guide will break down the core concepts and walk you through the early game step-by-step.

Revolution Idle Gameplay

The Basics: Circles and Laps

The core of the game is your set of colored circles. Each circle completes laps, and each lap does two things:

  • Increases your score multiplier for that circle.
  • Earns you Score (the main currency).

You use this Score to buy upgrades for your circles, making them complete laps faster.

Ascension: Your First Power-Up

When a circle reaches level 100, you can Ascend it. This resets the circle's level to 1, but it gives a permanent boost to its multiplier gain (Ascension Power) and increases its maximum level.

Tip: In the very early game, ascend circles as soon as they hit level 100 to build up your Ascension Power.

Prestige & Infinity: The Keys to Progress

Progress in Revolution Idle revolves around two main reset mechanics: Prestige and Infinity. It's crucial to understand the difference.

  • Prestige (Revolution): This is your first and most frequent type of reset. When you Prestige, you reset your circles, score, and ascensions. In return, you gain a Prestige Multiplier (P.Mult). This powerful multiplier boosts all your future score gain, making each run faster than the last. The main goal of prestiging is to increase your P.Mult.
  • Infinity: This is the next major prestige layer. After reaching a very high score (5e308), you can perform an Infinity. This resets almost everything, including your P.Mult. In exchange, you earn Infinity Points (IP), which are used to buy powerful, permanent upgrades that dramatically speed up all aspects of the game.

The big question is: When should you do each?

For your first few Prestiges, a good rule of thumb is to wait until your P.Mult will increase by a significant amount, like 10x to 100x what you currently have. If progress feels slow, it's probably time to prestige.

For Infinity, you should aim to do it as soon as it's available. To figure out the best time to perform an Infinity and to plan your IP spending, you can use our IP Calculator and Planner.

Early Game Tips

  • Achievements: Keep an eye on the achievements tab. They provide a permanent multiplier bonus for completing milestones.
  • Promotions: Once you unlock Promotions, they become a primary way to boost your P.Mult between prestiges.
  • Time Flux: This is your offline progress. Using it to double your game speed (x2) is generally the most efficient way to use it early on.
